Hello, my name is Wendy and together with my husband, Norman we provide a range of personalised gifts and home accessories.

 

Merry Maybelle came to life in 2016 after I was made redundant from my job, working with children and young people who had experienced trauma. I spent a year counselling in the adult field however family health issues and the amount of travelling involved led me to consider a new direction.

 

I’ve always loved choosing and giving gifts to others, so I was naturally drawn to this area. My creative journey started making hand-stamped cards and gifts for family and friends. I must admit that I’m a bit of a perfectionist and can be impatient in seeing my designs come to life … that’s where laser engraving comes in!

 

I love the design process using my PC and the images and text that I create and engrave can be seen immediately (and I don’t have to worry about any wobbles affecting the finished effect as I did when hand stamping)!

 

Merry Maybelle is very much a family affair; in fact, the name represents my family. Merry is a combination of my parents’ surnames (Metcalfe and Murray) and Maybelle is a combination of my grandmothers’ names (Annie May and Mabel), both of whom were very creative, seen in cooking, knitting, sewing and crochet … skills that have eluded me unfortunately!
